Rabbi White

Rabbi Menachem White is the Rabbi of the Chevra Chaas community. The community is a conglomeration of five different communities and its full name is the Chevra Shaas-Adath Jeshurun-Hadath Kodesh-Shevet Achim-Chaverim Kol Yisrael d’Beth Abraham congregation. Rabbi White was born in Boston, and after high school he studied in Israel in the Yeshiva at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. For his undergraduate work he combined secular studies with religious ones, and moved back to Boston to pursue his Masters at Brandeis.

After earning his Masters degree, Rabbi White was teaching at the State University of New York, when he was recruited to teach at Herzliah High School in 1976. During that time, he also earned his PhD from McGill. Rabbi White was then asked to succeed the rabbi of the Chevra Chaas community, after he passed away in the spring of 1995. In 2006, Rabbi White helped his community move to the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue.

Since Rabbi White has always been interested in learning as well as teaching others he divides his time between teaching at United Talmud Torah, Herzliah High School and Concordia University in biblical studies.
