"The paupers look forward to the reading of the megilah" (Megilah 4)

The time of megilah reading is auspicious for good livelihood and blessings

In the sefer Ateret Yehoshua of the holy Rabbi of Jikov zy'o it is brought down that the megila reading is auspicious for a good livelihood.

The Rabbi explains according to what our Sages ob'm said (Megilah 4) that "The paupers look forward to the reading of the megilah". The simple explanation is that the poor people wait for the time of the megilah reading because then the Jewish people will give them charity, as per the custom for that day.

The holy Rabbi explains the Gemara according to what is explained in the ARIZ'L: "It is known that when we say the chapter of "Ashrei Yoshvei Beitecha" we should have intention of the Names of Livelihood - "פאי" that are the initials of the words "פותח את ידך" and "חתך" – that come out from the last letters of those words "פותח את ידך" – for those are the angels appointed over Livelihood.

The holy Rabbi of Jikov adds that the blessing said before the megilah reading "על מקרא מגילה" adds up to exactly the numerology of these two Names for Livelihoodפאי  and חתך – 519.

This is the intention of the Gemara that "The paupers look forward to the reading of the megilah" - the poor people can rise up to wealth and leave their poverty through the reading of the megilah because through the megilah reading an abundance comes down for livelihood and all good things from the two Names פאי and חתך that are alluded to in the megilah blessing.

The holy rabbi, author of the Tiferet Shlomo zy'o added that through the reading of the megilah an abundance of "children, life and livelihood" come down to the Jewish Nation. He added, "Therefore it is a mitzvah to spread out the megilah like a letter as it says in the Shulchan Aruch, so that the good blessings spread out all over, Amen.

Shabbat Shalom!!
