The Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue is always happy to welcome new members. Membership at the Spanish is appealing to a wide range of spiritual seekers. We invite you to learn more about who we are and encourage you to attend our Shabbat Services as well as explore our holiday and learning programs for adults and children.

We are a participatory, creative, and inclusive community dedicated to preserving and enlivening our traditions. Peruse our website to learn more about the Spanish. Founded in 1768, first Synagogue in Canada, the Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue continues to grow each year. Our community is built upon the rich and diverse talents and contributions of our collective members; from playing music and cooking meals; to joining a committee. New members support the continued flourishing of the community’s spirit.

The Spanish & Portuguese has two membership options:

• Single Membership: For one adult with or without children*
• Family Membership: For two adults with or without children*

*Children = under 21 years of age

Please complete the below form. If you are unable to submit your membership form digitally, please click here to download it.  You can then fill it out, sign it, scan it and email it back to francoise@thespanish.org.  You can also drop it off in person at our office - we'd love to meet you!

The Membership Committee receives your application and confirmation of membership contribution. A member of the committee will then follow up with you to greet you and get to know you a little more. Following that, the Executive and Board of Trustees is required to approve all new member applications.

Once your membership is approved by the Board, you will be contacted and welcomed. This is where you can share additional details such as your skills and interests to help us assist you in getting involved in the community.

Being of the Hebrew Faith, I am applying for a Membership in the Corporation of Spanish & Portuguese, Shearith Israel of Montreal.

I understand that this application is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees of the Synagogue. To that end, I am enclosing a Membership application form that I have completed as fully as possible.

If approved, I shall abide by the By-Laws of the Congregation, a summary of the salient points of which I have received and a full copy of which is available for our review at the Synagogue office.

Should my application be accepted, I acknowledge that my membership in the Synagogue is continuous from year to year as long as I am in good standing and pay all fees as they become due.
