Dear mitpallelim
This past week my colleague for many years at Herz, Mme Leibovici, observed yahrzeit for her husband Marcel, who was professor of Semitic languages at U de M.

Mazal tov to Shulamit Foxman, whose daughter Rivka Baila, gave birth to a boy, Daniel Aharon.
And Mazal tov to Simcha Foxman, whose oldest grandson Moshe Yehudah was married and is learning Torah in a kollel in Ramat Shlomo.
Sadly, we keep on hearing reports of clashes in Israel. In this week’s parasha, as we conclude the Book of Vayiqra’, we read that if we follow the laws of the Torah “venatati shalom baarets”
“I will give peace in the land”
And in the shortest yet one of the most meaningful commentaries in the entire Torah, the great medieval Sephardi sage Ibn Ezra wrote on the word “shalom” “beineikhem” “among you.”
That is, the most important peace is peace among the different factions of our people.
Shabbat shalom,
Rabbi Menahem White
